I Customer table the email address field is not enough characters, is there an easy way to increase without breaking anything in SQL.

No... You cannot increase the length of ANY field in SL without breaking it.
 
You can, however, use a user field to hold the information and put it on the screen instead.  That is... if you can find one long enough.
 
There are a few 3rd party products that can also add a number of user fields of various lengths to SL that can then be used for storing information.

We already use ASI EMail but if the Customer and Vendor field length is only thirty we have to manually update and change the email in ASI email addon, kind of a pain in the ass
