I am considering moving my GP to a hosted environment.  I do not intend to go the SaaS route, but simply want to move my on premise installation to a hosted server.  is this possible? Are there authentication or printer issues.. or anything that may trip me up?

It certainly is possible to migrate GP to a hosted/cloud environment, we do it all the time and it works really well as long as you set it up properly.  You can keep your license that you currently have and simply leverage the infrastructure of a cloud provider.  Printing works really well as long as you have your workstations relatively up to date (Windows XP or higher) and have mainstream printers (HP, Brother, etc.)

Make sure to ask a cloud provider how much experience they have with GP, and also what the user-experience will be like, i.e. how you would access the application.

If I can be of any assistance, or you would like a quote, let me know and I'll connect you with one of our partners near you.

Sounds interesting if you have one on-premise.

Microsoft Dynamics GP hosted on Microsoft Azure is quick to deploy, scalable and secure

Benefits of deploying Microsoft Dynamics GP in Microsoft Azure:

1. Microsoft Azure Services promises 99.95% up time meaning that your GP environment will always be available and supported by both Rimrock and Microsoft.

2. Moving GP to the Cloud reduces the risk associated with managing on-premises infrastructure related to GP, resulting in significant cost savings over time.

3. In terms of user experience, your team will be able to access GP in the same way and with the same user experience whether working in the office or remotely.

4. A Dynamics GP installation in the cloud with Azure means you don’t have to worry about setting up an infrastructure or procuring and configuring hardware. As a result, deployment can be completed in a fraction of the time. Upgrades and patches can be applied in less time as well.

5. Microsoft Azure introduces a third option in how to deploy Dynamics GP beyond cloud virtual server hosting or on-premises. – hybrid deployment. This method of deployment enables you to move selected workloads to Azure while keeping other workloads on-premises or at the data center.

6. Azure’s infrastructure scales to meet the demands of any business. Increasing data storage, adding more users, or integrating additional applications with your Dynamics GP deployment are all managed from an online console to accommodate changing needs quickly and seamlessly.

7. Hosting Microsoft Dynamics GP on Azure is an extremely cost effective deployment option. There are no hardware costs to purchase or maintain and Azure’s scalable platform means you only pay for consumption of data and power that you use. The result can mean significant savings for your organization.
