Hello, I need some suggestions on setting up unemployment tax for a fiscal year client.  The calculation needs to begin in January which is period 6.  Can't find anything in the documentation to provide this guidance.  Thank you.

Hi, the technique you most likely will want to use is adding a dummy, posting account that Unemployment Tax gets expensed to as defined in the Forecaster benefits worksheet.  Then use element calculations in the data input screen to take amounts from the dummy account and calculate into the true, GL posting accounts.   For example, you may want to move amounts from the dummy account in Period 1 (lets say June is your Fiscal Year period 1) into Jan for the true, GL posting account and so on (Period 1, say Jul, into Feb, etc.)

Thank you for the response, I'm still trying to learn how to use this forum.

Hi there - I was wondering - I have a client that wants their input set display to look like:

Last Yr Budget/Current Year Projection (includes calculations)/Next Year budget (YTD total).

They want to key into the last column whatever their next year's annual budget is. This works fine until we get to revenue modeling. The client wants to set up an input set that has effectively (as lines for data entry): Days (DAYS) x spaces available (SLOTS) x utilization (UTILZ) x rate (RATE).

I need to build calculations to display capacity, expected utilization in days and revenue $. I am not getting the expected results because the values are being entered into a YTD column. It appears the calculations are taking the values entered and spreading them "behind the scenes" across the twelve months.

Do I need to do element calcs as part of the input set?

Hi, a few quick tips to note. You may consider a single posting period for annual amounts instead of a calculated period that sums all 12 months. Also look to the Account worksheet (Setup | Segments | Account) for the total method (like Sum, Last, Average). You could have one posting period where they enter annual amounts then have 11 months that are calculated taking the annual amount divided by 12.

I was able to finally get it to work on the revenue tab - but now it isn't feeding the multi tab correctly now... Thank you for your help.
