Object Model-how to query Hdr/Dtls then Append Dtl

   Hi gurus, 

I have a VS2005 VB.Net object model window that loads data from an Excel to an SL windows (a window with Hdr and Details). The Hdr's primary key field (Batch_Nbr) value is generated internally by SL system. For exceptions, my code will send the bad records with reasons to "Exceptions" sheet in the Excel. User will then make correction and then recycle corrected Excel back to the same process.
It is required that when running my object model on corrected data, I need to append these records to the same (Batch_Nbr) generated from the 1ST run.
My code runs fine on the 1ST run when both Hdr and Details are new records. However, on the 2nd run against corrected data, how to code object model so I can query Hdr/Details, then append Details? 
Can someone help me out?
