I’m using MS Outlook 2016. Due to virus, Outlook PST file got corrupted. I searched over forums and found ScanPST.exe tool. After using this tool, I faced an error “Fatal Error: 80040900”. After searching a lot on internet, I found few resources:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/813514/error-occurs-when-you-send-or-receive-an-email-message-in-outlook-or-o

https://www.stellarinfo.com/outlook-pst-file-recovery.php

Please suggest manual solution. I don’t want to spend money on paid softwares.

I am using a mix of Gmail and Outlook accounts for email notifications, where the latter uses port 587 and TLS by default.  I started getting the failures for my Gmail accounts so tried switching to TLS 587 and test messages were successful again!  At other times, I have had to switch back to using port 465 and SSL for Gmail, so not sure why this keeps fluctuating other than it being something at the Gmail end of the chain!
